THE PLAYERS Championship, established in 1974, is one of the PGA TOUR’s most prestigious events. Held annually at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, it has become famous for its challenging course, particularly the iconic 17th hole with its “Island Green.” Originally called the Tournament Players Championship, the event was rebranded in 1988 to emphasize the players themselves.
